I am delighted to be able to share our website information about Derwent Primary School.  We are a rapidly expanding school as a result of our recent building developments and completion of our Buttercup Block, which houses our new bespoke KS2 classrooms.  We also have a design and technology room, a music studio and a warm and inviting SEN provision room which has exceptional resources to support teaching and learning for our pupils.

In the other part of our building, housing EYFS and KS1, we also now have two nursery classes, Ladybirds and Caterpillars. All our EYFS and KS1 children learn phonics from nursery upwards, as decoding from an early age is essential to good chances in reading and academic progress throughout later education. Admission to our Reception classes is via the Local Authority and places are in demand.  We also have links to the RAF station opposite the school and warmly welcome service families to the school.

Our grounds now have a plan for a forest school provision, upgraded outdoor active play equipment and a proper marked area for netball, basketball and 5-a-side football.  We have extra music support from Inspiring Music and an updated hall to put on shows and assemblies.  Additionally we now have a strong behaviour management policy which supports all children to be able to have a great school day and have the best possible learning opportunities in and out of class during these precious early education years.
